April 1st SIE New Ventures Competition 2009
Hello Foodies, This is no April fools!
This Spring we were nominated for the SIE new ventures competition which meant another great trip through to Glasgow to attend the Awards ceremony which was held at 29 Private Members Club. After a glass of bubbles and mingling with other young enterprising types we got down to Business and were awarded “Highly Recommended” for our Business The Foodie Company. The results of the competition are as follows;
First Place – RevDrive, Edward Bolham, University of Edinburgh
RevDrive is a gear box offering a new type of drive train aimed at the downhill sector of the cycling industry.
Second Place – hoodeasy, Richard Burton, University of Edinburgh
Richard founded hoodeasy in 2007 with the goal of making it easy for groups of students to order customised clothing: with a hassle-free online ordering system.
Third Place- Giglets, Craig Johnston and Scott Francis, University of Strathclyde
Through the character of “Tam O’Haggis” in a series of children’s books, Giglets endeavours to educate young children on Scottish History whilst tackling issues such as childhood obesity.
Highly Recommended- The Foodie Company, Peter McLean, Napier University
The Foodie Company provide a modern take on the traditional hamper with Foodie Boxes, sourcing the finest Scottish products for each Foodie Box, to sell across the globe. Peter is looking to expand next with Foodie Gadgets.
Highly Recommended – YROCK, Grant McWhirter and Roisin Tuohy, University of Strathclyde
YROCK is a social enterprise and music promotions company aimed primarily at meeting the needs of young musicians.
We were absolutely delighted to receive this award, and a very well done to all the other winners.
